JT9D Engines
The JT9D product line was introduced at LTAI in 1982 to support the then Aer Lingus B747 fleet. The first models worked on were the JT9D-3A and 7A engines.
Subsequently the JT9D-7J was introduced in the late 1980’s and this was followed in 1992 by the JT9D-7Q engine which powers the Boeing B747-200 aircraft.
To date over 650 JT9D complete engines and over 450 separate JT9D modules have been repaired or overhauled at LTAI. The typical turnaround time for a complete JT9D refurbishment is 85 calandar days.
LTAI has worked with both OEM and Industry leaders to implement jointly a Performance Improvement Programme which enhances EGT margin and on wing time. This is accomplished in conjunction with:
Tailored workscopes that reduce ownership costs
Tighter gas path clearances
Repair development to reduce scrap and enhance performance.
